Organizations

Parish organizations include:

Cyrenians: just as Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry His cross to Calvary, the parish’s Cyrenians assist the pastor as he guides members of the flock on their own paths to Heaven.  The Cyrenians do fund raising and contribute to parish projects, large and small, to ease the burden of the pastor and parishioners on the journey of faith.

Holy Name Society: the parish men’s organization dedicated to fostering reverence for the Holy Name of God and Jesus Christ.  The society’s service to the parish and community is made possible through fund raising such as the popular Lenten food sales and the annual turkey bingo.

St. Vincent dePaul Society: dedicated to serving the poor and the needy, in the spirit of St. Vincent. They give aid to Ruth’s Place, Domestic Violence Victims and Pro-Life.

Altar & Rosary Society/St. Ann’s Society: a daily devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary is fostered.  Through prayer, the Roses offered, bring us, through the Blessed Mother, our Mother, to her Son, Jesus.  Special honor is paid to St. Ann, mother of Mary and intercessor for our needs.

Liturgical ministries: many opportunities exist to support the parish in the celebration of the Eucharist.  Parishioners may serve in the adult choir,  as musicians in support of the choir, lectors, ushers, finance council, CCD teachers, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion at Mass, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion to the homebound, altar servers, adult altar servers at weekday Masses and adult servers at funerals.

Knights of Columbus:

Chartered on November 10, 1997, St. Leo the Great Council 12089 Knights of Columbus is an organization of Catholic men founded on the principles of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism.

The main goal of the Knights of Columbus is service.  Through the many programs sponsored by the Supreme Council and over 12,000 councils, the Knights of Columbus focuses on five areas of service—faith, community, family, youth and fellowship.

Since being chartered, St. Leo the Great Council has been awarded the Columbian Award, which is given each year by the Supreme Council for excellence in the five areas of service.
